Hi - we also are brand new to Lexington and trying to learn of preschool/daycare options.  We have two 4 year olds and a 1 year old.  We have scanned the LexFun guide - but haven't fully absorbed the information yet.

We are uncertain what it even looks like to put them in someplace right now, but if it is done in a reasonable way, we would prefer to start them when possible.  same with partial day options or simply fun/learning activities appropriate for the times.

Appreciate all the information that has been collected.

    Thanks Dan and Fotini

PS: I notice much of positioning on LexFun is 'mom' centric - and both of us (mom and dad) are just starting to work through this site and information.  If there are any particulars which are only suitable for moms and not dads with LexFun, although hope not, just let us know.

    Hi Dan and Fotini,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to Lexington!  I lead the Preschool Ambassador Program and our Virtual Playgroups.  I can certainly share additional information and suggestions for preschools and connecting with other local families.

My email is sarah_kathryn_thomas@yahoo.com.  Drop me a note and we can chat.

And you are right, our messaging may seem a little mom centric at the moment.  Although we did have a Dad's Nights Out Earlier in the summer.  This year we have ended up with no Dads on the Board but we always welcome Dads and if you have any interest in joining the LexFUN! Board I can put you in contact with the appropriate people.

    Best wishes, Sarah

I believe Lexington Playcare Center has preschool spots (for the 4yos) and I KNOW they have toddler spots assuming the 1yo is 15mo. My son's toddler class only has 3 kids in it and 2 teachers!

Happy to talk about the COVID precautions that are in place. Kids wear masks (not required of the littlest - they work with them to get them used to the masks), teachers all wear masks, mostly outdoor play, parents aren't allowed inside, etc. If you have specific question, I'm happy to answer them.

    Hi!

There are many many great preschools in town. The moms on the LexFUN! Board go to approx 20 of them, so we are for sure a good resource!

We are in the process of launching the Preschool Ambassador Program so that we can quickly connect moms like you to others directly at preschools that you are interested in! It is very valuable to get the inside scoop, especially during the pandemic!

As also recommended our member only Facebook site is a great place to ask questions.

I can personally provide a bunch of information on Community Nursery School (CNS). Drop me an email and i’ll fill you in!

    Look forward to connecting!

Greetings! Our family has just been relocated to Lexington.

I'm looking for a local preschool for my four year old. (I looked back through several pages of discussion threads, and there seems to be no recent post on it. Apologies if I missed one unwittingly.)

Off a basic search, I've been able to identify three:

    1.) Community Nursery School
    2.) LEAP School
    3.) My Weekday School

I'd be super grateful if parents on this group could let me know if I'm missing a gem, and if not, which of these you'd recommend most strongly.
    Many thanks in advance!

Welcome to Lexington! Just wanted to encourage you to add Lexington Playcare Center to your list!

We are finishing up our second year at LPC (they re-opened 3 weeks ago); we have 2 kids there (a 4.5yo and a 2yo) and absolutely love having them in such a warm, nurturing environment. LPC is a wonderful play-based school, with caring teachers and a great facility with a natural playground. Kids go outside multiple times per day, (in non-COVID times) take little walks around town and participate in music/cultural classes as well as yoga. Class sizes are small.

Chris, the current director, has been there for 30+ years, as have a couple of the teachers (can't say enough about the wonderful staff & teachers). Full and part time schedules are available. Early drop off (7am) - and pick up as late as 6pm was available pre-COVID - I don't know if they will be offering that in the fall (they are not offering it this summer).

I attached a couple pics of my kids from this summer.

    Find out more on https://www.lexingtonplaycarecenter.org/.

Also this discussion board is not very active so if you are on FB, I'd encourage you to join our members-only FB group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/LexFUNparents/?ref=share (if you haven't already)  and post this question there. You'll get lots of opinions and truly almost all Lexington preschooks are wonderful.
