Belmont World Film's 17th Annual Family Festival

    Belmont World Film is holding its 17th Annual Family Festival from January 17-20, at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, the Studio Cinema in Belmont, and the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge. Although films are for people of any age, the films are geared mainly toward children age 2-12 and their families and friends.

    Some highlights for younger children include:

    • The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show Storytime: A live, audience participatory puppet show and story time featuring two Eric Carle stories followed by a photo opportunity with the caterpillar puppet (age 2-6)
    • Master Animator Cinzia Angelini, TEDx speaker and lead story artist on AbominableThe Minions MovieDespicable Me 3Spider-Man 2, and more, will conduct a  workshop on drawing the Minions character and another on storyboarding for animated films, and will participate in a Q&A after two of her films (Age 5+)
    • What's New from Weston Woods Studios: Never before seen film versions of best loved children's books, including The Pigeon Has to Go to School by Mo Willems; The Word Collector by Peter Reynolds; Hidden Figures: The True Story of Four Black Women and the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly with Winifred Conkling and narrated by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer; Potato Pants by Laurie Keller; and Mighty, Mighty Construction Site by Sherry Dusker Rinker (Age 5+)
    • Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs (North American Premiere): Will an imaginative boy, his know-it-all cousin, and a pack of talking dogs save their romantic neighborhood in Riga, Latvia from unwelcome change? (Age 5+)
    • Terra Willy: Unexplored Planet (US Premiere). What do you get when you cross the heartwarming encounters in WALL-E with the rich and colorful animation of FantasiaTerra Willy, a masterpiece of animation from FranceQq (Age 5+)!
    • Amazing & Adorable: Short Films about Animals from the Francophone World: Top animators in France, Belgium, and Switzerland have created adorable and colorful short films with subjects such as friendship, acceptance, and perseverance (Age 5+).
